Jewellery Making Workshops

Had a great morning running my first 'Make your own tree decorations using jewellery making techniques'.  Everyone enjoyed it and liked the idea of taking them home and putting them on the tree.  I overheard someone say 'it'll make a change for Mum to bring something home to show'!

I had put up the Xmas tree in my studio to create an atmosphere despite it being a bit too early.  However, it did create a festive mood.  The teabreak is highly popular as I provide handmade cupcakes (I didn't make them) and I think all enjoy their 'naughty indulgence' after a hard week at work.

This workshop is running on the 10 December and 17 December - a few spaces available if you fancy some festive fun, creating some handmade decorations, a delicious cupcake all in the comfort of my studio - just get in touch.  Sheila

What a week!

I am preparing my jewellery collection for exhibiting in the gallery and then I find that I am approached to possibly design a bridal range for a local bridal gown shop.

As well as this I have just sent 9 designs to a company in London for approval and hopefully these will be sold through their website!

How much excitement can a girl take!!!

My studio by the sea

I have settled into my studio in Irvine and I can work while looking out to the sea and Arran beyond.  I also have an area with display cabinets where I can sell to the public.  I am open most days but just contact me first if you want to come and visit!

I am busy preparing for the Gailes Lodge Wedding Fair on Sunday 23 October, 2011 so if you are planning your wedding or know anyone who is do please come along and see my work.  I can design and create something unique for the bride as well as accessories for the bridesmaids as well as mother of the bride/groom.

Hope to see you soon!

New Studio

After many months of searching I have now found the ideal site for my new studio! I came across it quite by chance as I searched on google!

I have still to sign the lease and I am thinking about the layout and how I can maximise the space for working as well as making my studio open and welcoming to the public.

I will also have consultations there with my customers for designing and creating their commissioned items.

It is so very very exciting and just can't wait to move in!

New Web Site

I can gradually see how my site will look. Have been working constantly to ensure that I am using the best possible images of my work. These will be uploaded and integrated into my new site by my web designer. Really looking forward to this being done!

Sheila Kerr is approved for personal hallmark from Edinburgh Assay Office

I am delighted to announce that all items will now be stamped with my personal hallmark at the Edinburgh Assay Office, Scotland.

This personalises my work and gives the buyer a guarantee of quality but also adds value to the piece.

This is a sneak preview of one of my new designs - handcut handhammered copper butterfly earrings with sterling silver earwires. Coming soon.

Complete Relief!

My scare in December has finally been eradicated! Spending last Monday in hospital and undergoing an operation which has been successful means total relief from worry. However, as anyone who has had surgery - healing has to take place plus the resulting bruising.

However, I am now recovered and able to return to all my usual activities (including work).

Today was highly successful at the Gailes Hotel Wedding Fair in Irvine. I have many bookings from brides and look forward to working with them to create their unique commissions.

However, it's now time for bed after a hectic day.

Goodnight all x

A new year, a new day and I'm feeling good . . .

I'm sure there's a song with these words but I can honestly say that this is how I am feeling. 2010 had some really great times but other times I would like to forget. Ever the optimist, I look forward to 2011 with great gusto! From the beginning of December 2010 I had a wee scare and so had an underlying worry. I was not settled until the hospital gave me the 'all clear' on 21 December - only then could I get into the 'Xmas spirit'.
